The aim for teaching these modern languages is to promote the cultural diversity within the school and beyond. Students are taught to attain skills in creative writing, comprehension, grammatical constructions and appropriate use of register.
Ingrained in the teaching are cultural activities, tours to cultural sites as well as within the school programmes that foster participatory learning. At the end of two years students sit for oral (L2 speakers) as well as written examinations which are affiliated to CHISZ.
Global Perspectives is subject which gives students a life experience. It’s a discipline which transforms learners into global citizens and prepares them to an understanding and appreciation of diversity between and among people in several dimensions. Its Content is derived from a wide array of academic disciples and covers several concepts and topics such as International law, environmentalism, Tourism, Crime, poverty, Genetic Engineering and many others. The central and focal thrust of the subject is to each scholar’s insights and skills which cut across all kinds of academic divides hence producing global citizens. At Westridge High School, the subject is offered to all kinds of students from Form 1 to U6. So far, the impact of the subject has been outstanding and the subject is gaining popularity.
